About NAWHC
NAWHC
The National Association of Worksite Health Centers (NAWHC) is a Chicago-based, trade organization focused on assisting public and private employers, unions and other sponsors of worksite health programs in getting the greatest return from their onsite health centers, onsite pharmacies, worksite fitness and wellness centers.
NAWHC also provides opportunities for those vendors, suppliers and consultants that support worksite health facilities and programs to interact with and learn about employers who sponsor such facilities.
NAWHC was formed on May 5, 2011 by the non-profit Midwest Business Group on Health (MBGH), in cooperation with The La Penna Group.
Objectives
-
Enabling and increasing the exchange of information and experiences between employer-sponsors of worksite health facilities
-
Offering practical and objective information for those examining this approach, as to how these facilities can be part of a total health care strategy that increases productivity, reduces costs and enhances engagement in health management programs
-
Advocating for employers and other sponsors of worksite health facilities and programs
- Assisting sponsors of worksite health facilities in evaluating the ROI of their facilities, as well as the performance of their partner vendors.
Leadership
The association is led by a board of directors composed of leading employer-sponsors and vendors who support worksite program facilities and services. There is also a Medical Director Council of physician thought-leaders from employers, providers, consultants and vendors to advise NAWHC on clinical issues, medical programs and how to increase the effectiveness and outcomes of these facilities.
Organizational Relationships
NAWHC is an affiliate of the Midwest Business Group on Health, a 501c3, non-profit coalition of over 100 self-funded public and private employers, who provide benefits to over 3 million lives, and spending over $3 billion annually on health services. MBGH provides employers with educational workshops for health benefits management, networking opportunities, research, demonstration projects and community initiatives to improve the value of health benefits and improve the quality, safety and cost of care in the health care marketplace. MBGH is a founding member of the National Business Coalition on Health. www.mbgh.org.
The association is supported and advised by The La Penna Group, Inc, a health care consulting group, led by Michael LaPenna, focused on program development and innovative solutions for both providers and consumers. For more than 20 years, its team has worked directly with employers to develop on-site health access and clinical services and its clients are considered to have some the most advanced programs in the nation. The La Penna Group frequently publishes on the subject of employer based health programming and worksite health clinics and sponsors an industry newsletter (www.onsiteclinics.org) in addition to conducting regular research on program performance. www.lapenna.com.
